Fargo, North Dakota - Convicted of animal cruelty in August 2013 for the starvation deaths of more than 100 horses and mules discovered in January 2013.
In December 2013, Kiefer was sentenced to one year in jail, with six months suspended, to be served in jail or home monitoring. As part of his sentence, Kiefer was placed on two years of supervised probation in which he can not own livestock.
Kiefer was arrested on August 7, 2014 after it was discovered that he purchased a horse from a Wyoming breeder in July 2014.
Kiefer was arrested again on August 18, 2014 after a horse and a mule were duscovered on his property during a probation check.
